What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Marine Group Boat Works?
The Assistant Controller is responsible for performing accounting (job cost) functions in a shipyard construction environment. Contributes to the development and maintenance of financial reporting. Ensure that all corporate and required accounting policies and procedures are followed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Oversees and performs cost accounting for all jobs. This involves spreading task level detail items within each job, cleaning up data, progressing each job as needed, and working with project managers regarding progress.
- Review, correct, and change purchase orders on a daily basis.
- Perform allocations of indirect costs to jobs.
- Audit and resolve questions arising from unusual variances in job cost activities.
- Audits weekly payroll data and verifies coding to proper jobs.
- Create Month end and Year end reports (including WIP report) for financials.
- Develop financial reports and analysis, as required by CEO and Project Managers
- Additional duties may include approving A / P, creating billings and special projects.
