What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hardware Sales position at Marine Home Center?
Summary
The Hardware Sales Associate will be greeting and assisting customers with their project needs. May also assist in the product placement and pricing of all merchandise and help maintain a clean and organized merchandise presentation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Provide positive representation of store.
- Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
- Ensure customers are greeted and thanked upon entering and departing the store.
- Provide a friendly, outgoing demeanor, work well with customers as well as associates.
- Ensure all calls, emails, & communications are answered promptly, courteously, and effectively.
- Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.
- Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
- Assist customers throughout the store with personal, customized service.
- Other related functions and duties as assigned by Department Manager or designee
Store Operations
- Assist in creating a positive, professional, and safe work environment.
- Assist with receiving, checking in, and stocking of merchandise throughout the store.
- Assist with maintaining back stock levels.
- Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, receiving areas, and stock rooms.
- Assist with front end operations as needed (point-of-sale, key cutting, etc.).
- May operate forklift with proper training.
- Assist with cycle counts and follow up re: inventory issues.
- Ensure signage is current in the entire store.
- Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and ad goods merchandised.
- Ensure special orders are being completed properly.
- Communicate any store issue to management team for follow up.
- Communicate any merchandising, cost control, or sales idea to management team.
- Be professional in appearance and actions.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by manager or his designee.
Skills/Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with clients, sales staff, and internal personnel.
- H.S. Degree or GED equivalent
- Former retail experience preferred.
- Practical knowledge of product and materials (hardware, plumbing, and paint)
- Self-starter with strong problem solving and decision-making ability.
- Customer Service and dispute resolution
- Proficiency with POS, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook software
- Must be able to work well in a team environment
- Ability to lift >= 50lbs
- Valid MA driver’s license and possess clean driving record
