What are the responsibilities and job description for the Analyst, Private Investments position at Mariner Holdings?
We are currently searching for qualified candidates to join our private investments team as an Analyst, Private Investment. The Analyst is responsible for assisting the Vice President, Private Investments and the Private Investment Committee in strategy, management and oversight of illiquid alternatives and private investments offering across Mariner. Working directly with the Vice President of Private Investments, you will be responsible for helping to manage the private investments offering including fund research, manager diligence, preparing investment committee materials, and coordinating with third party strategic partners. Additionally, you will be responsible for coordination of requests coming into the private investments group internally and externally and communicating with advisors and other internal resources regarding the private investments offering at the firm.
Responsibilities
Analysis
Assist in diligence process of 3rd party managers/fund offerings and coordinate with 3rd party strategic partners on private investments offerings
Create and manage private investment committee materials including pipeline analysis, current PI offering, asset class reviews, and specific fund evaluation content and materials
Ongoing monitoring and diligence of historically approved offerings; as well as recurring offerings such as solutions for 1031 exchange opportunities
Coordinate qualitative and run quantitative analysis for private investments due diligence including fund questionnaires, cash flow and allocation models, and fund benchmarking
Platform Management
Maintain and update list of current offerings with appropriate checklists to keep advisors informed of how to access offerings
Support review of private investments as needed to support inorganic growth opportunities
Assist in reviewing client opportunities as necessary to support advisory teams
Maintain a flexible approach when evaluating managers and strategies to align with the fast paced, flexible nature of the organization
Collaborate with 1248 to learn and understand any affiliated offerings or deal flow that may be attractive to Mariner clients
Communication
Collaborate and help produce content and materials alongside the Education & Training team to educate advisors on the PI offering and platform
Help update advisors on new offerings as well as performance updates on current investments on a regular basis
Work with advisory teams and operations to ensure reporting on private investments is accurate
Serve as in-house resource on the Mariner PI platform, supporting advisor inquiries as needed
Participate in advisor calls and client or prospect meetings as needed
Leadership
Build relationships with key stakeholders across the organization and externally including third party strategic partners, field leadership, leaders of back office departments and advisory solutions groups
Demonstrate strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Focus on adaptive skills to support the broader team while navigating change and challenges
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, with a preference for business, finance or accounting
Knowledgeable and/or experienced in private investments asset classes such as private equity, real estate/real assets, private credit, venture capital, and hedge funds
Experience and familiarity in working with advisory teams or client facing role is helpful
Skills and Knowledge
Interest in private investments and alternatives and investing in general
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability and proficiency in discussing private investments with advisors, clients, and represent Mariner to external parties and investment managers
Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Task management and ability to multi-task, manage workload, and complete projects on time
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
