Job Description Summary:
Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and direction of Sterile Processing Department functions. Responsible for ensuring that such functions are within limitations of laws, regulations and hospital policies and procedures related to specified departments. Assists in the day to day operational activities such as direct supervision, quality assurance, utilizes and ensures best practices in the department. Coordinates, reviews, trains and assigns work within all functions in the department. Oversees and coordinates functions for decontamination, reprocessing and sterilization of instruments. Oversees and coordinates equipment maintenance of sterile instrument sets/supplies. Collaborates with nurses and physicians. Responisble for maintaining instrument tracking system. Responsible for staff education. Handles repairs and maintenance, vendor relations as it relates to the Sterile Processing Department. Structures record keeping functions to assure compliance with Federal, State and accreditation requirements.
Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions:
EDUCATION
1. High School Graduation required
2. CRCST Certification required
3. Supplemental courses in Management and Sterile Processing are desirable.

EXPERIENCE
1. Five years experience in Sterile Processing or Central Supply environment.
2. Three years of experience in supervisory capacity preferred

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Cert Sterile Proc/Distrib Tech OR Cert Sterile Process Tech Required at hire

PREREQUISITE SKILLS
Knowledge of:
1. Surgical instruments and supplies and their reprocessing and sterilization.
2. Applicable laws and regulations relevant to sterilization and inventory control.
3. Computer systems and their applications to the work of the department.
4. Surgical procedures.
5. Medical and surgical terminology, supplies and equipment.
6. Aseptic technique, principles and practices
7. Instrumentation & sterilization best practices

The compensation for this role listed on this posting is in compliance with applicable law. The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on the individual’s skills, experience, internal/market equity factors, and qualifications. This posted minimum and maximum range represents the minimum and maximum of what we reasonably expect to compensate for the position. Furthermore, all compensation decisions are ultimately determined in accordance with our compensation philosophy. Compensation for positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by the agreements in the aforementioned document.
