What are the responsibilities and job description for the Runner position at Mariposa Taqueria?
Position Summary
Carry on the vision of enlightened hospitality, by supporting servers/bartenders in providing our guest a memorable dining experience. Support duties include; clearing dishes, glasses, and trash from tables, setting tables, bringing fresh water to tables and refilling water glasses as needed, running food and assisting the servers as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Mariposa: To tell the story of Latino-American tradition, through interpretations of Latin food in a pulsating atmosphere revolving around community, culture, and rhythmic energy
- Support servers & bartenders in providing & fulfilling ALL Mariposa guest’s needs by following the Mariposa Steps of Service.
- Always maintain a clean & presentable dining room
- Maintain guest tables and ensure clean and free of clutter
- Assist with stocking & restocking product as needed
- Run food to tables and bar for guests
- Clear, clean, and reset tables as needed
- Complete pre-open prep work to ensure readiness for the day
- Assist in cleaning and closing the restaurant using provided checklists
- Assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies.
- Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to the manager.
- Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines while performing tasks and work safely in the front of the house, on stairs, and in kitchen area/coolers.
- Attends all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.
- Coordinate with and assist fellow team members to meet guests’ needs and support the restaurant’s operation.
- Fill-in for fellow teammates where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
- Performing other work-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Previous restaurant experience is preferred
- Open availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Excellent customer service to treat guests like family

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
