Summary
Marist School, a co-educational, college-preparatory Catholic school seeks a part-time Library Assistant. The Library Assistant supports the mission of the Marist Library program by providing clerical and technical assistance to the librarians, monitoring student behavior, and ensuring that students and faculty have access to library resources. This position is part-time: two 8-hour shifts, Mondays and Tuesdays from August to June.

Essential Functions
Responsibilities include the following:
- Provides a point of contact for library patrons by staffing the circulation desk, assisting students and faculty in locating and using materials in the library, answering questions, gathering materials, and demonstrating use of equipment and software.
- Supervises student conduct and activities in the library. Ensures that students follow expectations of appropriate library behavior.
- Circulates, re-shelves, and maintains the organization of library materials.
- Generates and distributes overdue notices and monitors delinquent materials. Notifies the Library Director of persistent overdues and non-responsive patrons.
- Conducts the annual library inventory.
- Assists in ordering new materials and processing incoming items.
- Identifies materials needing repair/replacement and completes minor repairs.
- Assists patrons with the photocopy machine and contacts the department of Instructional Technology for maintenance when needed.
- Posts library announcements and closures manually and through the school’s announcement system.
- Opens and closes the library occasionally when Library faculty attend meetings.
- Collaborates with librarians on displays and public relations materials.
- Assists in all other functions of the library, as needed.
- Promotes Marist School and the library in the greater community

- Adhere to boundaries with students.
- Attend required abuse risk management training.
- Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Adhere to job-specific abuse management responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s degree with experience working in an educational setting preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A completed background check.
- A completed drug and illegal substances screen
