The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading and managing the human resources function within the organization. This role involves providing strategic leadership, vision, and direction in all areas of human resources, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, training and development, and HR policies and procedures. The Director of HR plays a critical role in driving HR initiatives, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, and fostering a positive and engaging work environment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Provide strategic guidance and support to senior management on HR-related matters, contributing to organizational planning and decision-making.
- Oversee the recruitment and selection process, including workforce planning, job posting, interviewing, and onboarding of new employees.
- Develop and maintain effective employee relations practices, ensuring a positive work environment and addressing employee concerns and grievances.
- Partnering with finance, prepare and process multi-state payroll on a biweekly cadence.
- Manage performance management programs, including goal setting, performance reviews, and performance improvement plans.
- Develop and administer compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness and compliance with legal requirements.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices, staying updated with changes and recommending appropriate actions.
- Manage employee training and development programs, assessing training needs, designing and delivering training initiatives, and evaluating effectiveness.
- Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and practices, ensuring consistency, fairness, and compliance across the organization.
- Oversee employee engagement initiatives, including employee surveys, recognition programs, and events to foster a positive work culture.
- Maintain and update HR records and systems, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related matters, including employee relations, performance management, and career development.
- Conduct investigations and facilitate resolution of employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with policies and legal requirements.
- Manage the employee offboarding process, including exit interviews, final pay, and termination procedures.
- Monitor HR metrics and analytics, providing insights and recommendations to senior management for decision-making and improvement.
- Stay updated with industry trends, employment laws, and HR best practices, sharing knowledge and implementing relevant changes.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as legal counsel, benefits providers, and HR consultants.
- Manage HR budget, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.
- Drive HR projects and initiatives, such as HR system implementation, policy updates, and process improvements.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or HR certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in human resources management, with at least 5 years in a managerial or senior HR leadership role.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws and regulations.
- Strong knowledge of multistate payroll best practices.
- Experience in developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and programs.
- Excellent understanding of recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, training and development, and HR administration.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex HR concepts to stakeholders at all levels.
