Job Summary:
The Tax Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the tax compliance, planning, and reporting activities within the organization or for client accounts. This role includes managing tax filings, supporting audits, providing guidance to the tax team, and ensuring adherence to all relevant tax laws and regulations. The Tax Supervisor also plays a crucial role in process improvement initiatives, training junior staff, and collaborating cross-functionally to optimize the company’s tax position.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Tax Compliance and Filing:
· Supervise the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns.
· Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns, including sales tax, income tax, property tax, and other necessary filings.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current tax laws and regulations, identifying changes that may impact the organization.
2. Tax Planning and Strategy:
· Assist in developing and implementing effective tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits.
· Conduct research and provide guidance on complex tax issues and transactions.
· Collaborate with management to support business transactions and provide tax impact analysis.
3. Audit and Risk Management:
· Lead and support tax audits by preparing necessary documentation, coordinating with auditors, and resolving any audit issues.
· Ensure accurate record-keeping and maintain organized tax files for audit readiness.
· Identify potential tax risks and recommend solutions to mitigate exposure.
4. Team Leadership and Development:
· Supervise and mentor tax associates and junior team members, providing guidance, training, and feedback.
· Conduct performance reviews and support team members in career development.
· Manage the team’s workflow to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
5. Process Improvement:
· Identify opportunities for efficiency within the tax function and implement process improvements.
· Work with accounting and finance teams to streamline tax-related processes.
· Utilize tax software and technology solutions to optimize filing and reporting processes.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,239.00 - $62,911.48 per year
