Job Summary: Creative Plastics is seeking an experienced and proactive Extrusion Supervisor to manage and lead the operations of the plastic extrusion team. The supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that the extrusion area operates in a safe, efficient, and productive manner, while upholding high standards of quality and safety. This position involves overseeing daily operations, leading a team of extrusion operators, coordinating with other departments, and resolving any issues that arise during the shift.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Direct, train, and mentor extrusion operators and other direct reports, providing daily support and guidance as needed.
- Oversee and ensure the efficient operation of extrusion machines and related equipment, ensuring optimal production output and adherence to quality standards.
- Ensure that all personnel adhere to safety policies and procedures, promoting a culture of safety in the work environment.
- Ensure that all necessary tools, equipment, and materials are available for the team to perform their tasks safely and efficiently. Coordinate with the purchasing department to ensure timely availability of required materials.
- Assist in resolving quality issues during the shift by collaborating with the team and taking corrective actions when necessary.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
- Maintain accurate records of production, quality, and safety-related issues, and provide regular reports to management.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management to support the overall goals and operations of the department.
Requirements:
- Strong leadership or supervisory skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to equipment, production, or quality.
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
- Ability to work in a variety of roles.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to utilize the tact and diplomacy required to foster a team environment while keeping projects on schedule and budget.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Supervision Received:
Works with minimal supervision. Issues and concerns need to be communicated to manager.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Previous Plastic Extrusion experience required.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting: Occasionally raises objects from a lower to a higher position or moves objects horizontally from position-to position. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Push/Pull: Occasionally uses upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Reaching: Extends hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Stooping: Bends body downward and forward at the waist. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Standing: Standing for moderate levels of time. Infrequently more than 30 minutes at a time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks. In frequently more than 30 minutes at a time.
Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant.
