B-shift: 5:30pm-4am
Weekend shift: 7am-7:30pm
Job Summary: Creative Plastics is seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for programming, operating, and troubleshooting CNC equipment, including routers, edge banders, and laser cutters. The ideal candidate will have experience with CNC equipment, a strong understanding of material efficiency, and the ability to maintain and troubleshoot machinery to ensure smooth production processes.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Convert drawings into programs for CNC woodworking equipment, including routers and edge banders, ensuring materials are used efficiently and parts are processed to specifications.
- Operate laser cutting machines, including loading, and unloading materials, ensuring parts remain stationary during processing, and verifying that parts are cut according to design specifications.
- Track the status of processed parts, maintain accurate records, and organize parts for downstream use in the production process.
- Review designs for any potential issues, troubleshoot program problems, and make necessary file modifications to ensure the efficient processing of parts.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on laser cutters and CNC equipment, such as oiling, greasing, cleaning filters, and troubleshooting issues. Work closely with maintenance personnel to keep equipment in optimal working condition.
- Keep the area around CNC machines clean and organized to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Ability to convert technical drawings into CNC programs for efficient material use and part processing.
- Strong focus on accuracy in both programming and machine operation, ensuring parts are cut correctly and efficiently.
- Ability to read detailed prints and the ability to use and read precise measuring tools
- Ability to identify and resolve issues with CNC equipment or programs to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
- Ability to work in a variety of roles.
- Strong project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to utilize the tact and diplomacy required to foster a team environment while keeping projects on schedule and budget.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Supervision Received:
Works with minimal supervision. Issues and concerns need to be communicated to supervisor.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Previous experience operating CNC routers, edge banders, and laser cutters, or other similar CNC equipment, is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting: Occasionally raises objects from a lower to a higher position or moves objects horizontally from position-to position. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Push/Pull: Occasionally uses upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Reaching: Extends hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Stooping: Bends body downward and forward at the waist. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Standing: Standing for moderate levels of time. Infrequently more than 30 minutes at a time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks. In frequently more than 30 minutes at a time.
Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant.
