What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager for Live Events position at Markey's?
Position Summary
Markey's provides creative as well as technical audio-visual solutions for client events at Marriott IndyPlace in downtown Indianapolis. The Project Manager is responsible for managing all production aspects and logistics of medium to large-scale events. The Project Manager will lead technical crews and fulfill all of the necessary responsibilities required to produce and manage a successful event.
This is a full-time, salaried (exempt) role. Hours will vary based on event schedules and needs.
Position Responsibilities
1. Review upcoming events and coordinate labor and equipment needs with Director of Event Technology Operations.
2. Lead and direct Event Technicians in preparing and executing live and virtual events.
3. Collaborate with Markey's Sales Team on production ideas and the use of proper equipment and labor on events.
4. Organize and review show materials in advance of events, communicating any changes to the team.
5. Collaborate with Markey's staff on event production to continually enhance overall quality of services offered.
6. Work with the Inventory Control Technician to ensure onsite inventory is up-to-date and accurate to fulfill business needs.
7. Train, coach and mentor Event Technicians ongoing.
8. Operate equipment as needed, performing technician responsibilities during peak busy times.
9. Provide effective and prompt responses to all technical and equipment issues/inquiries.
10. Participate in planning/production meetings as needed with Markey's Sales Managers.
11. Foster positive working relationships with hotel event management and support staff, hotel guests, clients, and event planners.
12. Follow and maintain existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for event management and operational functions.
13. Fulfill other duties as assigned to ensure success of Markey's events.
Requirements
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience with setup and operation of a variety of AV systems including video switching, projection, line array audio and smart light programming.
• Experience with rigging for lights and sound.
• Experience with power for audiovisual applications.
• Ability to manage an AV crew onsite to maintain efficiency and maximize resources.
• Some working knowledge of Vectorworks or other CAD programs is a plus along with the ability to create proper rig drawings.
• Must have excellent customer service and communication skills, politely and promptly responding to all internal and external requests.
• Computer proficiency and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, etc.), printers, basic computer interfacing, computer networking, and ability to learn R2 program.
• Must have high attention to detail, excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment, as well as independently.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times and be willing to adhere to Marriott's appearance and grooming guidelines.
• Must be able to lift/transfer equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as dictated by business needs.
