We self-fulfill most of our contracts and need an excellent Safety Team to accomplish our goals and keep our employees safe. We are looking for the next superstar to fill the Environmental Health and Safety Officer position.
General Duties
Follow the Safety director's safety plans in the field.
Implement programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials. Training programs include but are not limited to all safety related and driving training applicable to our industry.
Analyze accidents to determine causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
Pre-job safety analysis.
Inspect jobs for compliance with safety policy, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up with the Safety Director and ensure measures have been implemented.
Provide information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
Account for and record near misses / accidents and complete cost analysis.
Compile and submit accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
Work closely with the Director on the workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
Represent the organization in community and industry safety groups and programs.
Qualifications
- Ability to investigate accidents and crises analytically.
- Proficient communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Possess sufficient writing skills to prepare correspondence, reports, and related documents.
Ability to represent Markham professionally..
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Ability to interact with people at all levels in multiple departments.
Proficient use of Microsoft Applications : Outlook, Excel, Word.
