Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented ABO certified Optician to manage our optical shop within a single provider Ophthalmology medical office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical care, providing exceptional service to patients while assisting them in selecting and fitting eyewear. This role requires a blend of technical skills, customer service expertise, and knowledge of vision billing and coding. The Optician will play a crucial role in enhancing the patient experience in our clinic.
Duties
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their needs and preferences.
- Perform measurements for eyeglasses and contact lenses, ensuring accurate fittings.
- Provide education to patients regarding lens options, frame styles, and proper eyewear care as well as conduct contact lens fitting classes.
- Maintain inventory of eyewear products and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
- Submit VSP/Eyemed vision insurance claims and manage vision billing and coding tasks efficiently.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in eyewear technology and optical health practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace within the clinic.
Requirements
- ABO certification is required.
- Strong knowledge of optical problem solving, including the use of a lensometer, neutralizing glasses, reading prisms.
- Proficiency in retail math and retail management practices is advantageous.
- Experience with vision billing and coding is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with patients professionally.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- A commitment to providing high-quality patient care while adhering to clinic protocols.
