Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Legal Assistant to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will provide administrative and clerical support to attorneys, ensuring efficient case management and smooth daily operations. The Legal Assistant will handle confidential documents, conduct legal research, draft correspondence, and maintain case files while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, wills, trusts, and correspondence.
- Organize and maintain case files, both digital and physical, ensuring accessibility and security.
- Conduct legal research and compile data to support attorneys in case preparation.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, depositions, hearings, and court dates.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and court officials professionally and promptly.
- File legal documents with courts and other agencies, ensuring compliance with deadlines.
- Assist in preparing trial materials and case exhibits.
- Manage office supplies, billing, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical legal practices at all times.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- 2 years of experience in a legal environment (law firm or corporate legal department preferred).
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and court filing systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management software.
- Proficiency in Clio Grow and Clio Manage (a plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive legal matters.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Estate Planning
- Familiarity with e-filing systems for state and federal courts.
- Notary Public certification (a plus).
