General Description:
Performs production equipment maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical and minor PLC problems well. Innovative and creative, the “A” Technician identifies ways to continuously improve plant operations. Communicates well and trains production and mechanical personnel. Provides guidance and helps create a positive, effective work environment.
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Responsibilities:
- Performs all maintenance and troubleshooting functions on all production equipment in an independent and effective manner.
- Performs maintenance and troubleshooting on all plant utility systems well.
- Takes an active role in technician development.
- Anticipates technical and human problems and takes steps to correct.
- Sets an example for maintenance and production personnel with a positive attitude, willingness to learn and share information.
- Assumes responsibility for the attainment of plant goals and objectives. Uses skills and talent to contribute to organized success.
- Installs new equipment and innovations on existing equipment.
- Troubleshooting all electrical problems.
- Understanding of PLC and troubleshooting of PLC problems.
- Capable of handling sophisticated tooling required in complex set-up or troubleshooting and repair situations.
- Capable of developing, implementing and programming high speed changeovers.
- Learns function, lubrication, changeover, repair and routine troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical problems for all production equipment.
- Actively seeks to use skills and talents to achieve plant goals and objectives.
- Anticipates technical problems and takes steps to correct them.
- Contributes to the Positive Attitude within the plant.
- Ensures Safety, Quality, Customer Service, Cost and Sanitation are part of every task.
- Maintains positive open communications with the supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Related Experience:
- Minimum of four years maintenance experience in manufacturing operations.
- Strong competency in all mechanical and electrical skills.
- Understands shop maintenance, parts inventory, parts ordering.
- Troubleshooting of electrical cabinets.
- Minor troubleshooting of PLC.
- Completion of plant related requirements.
- Experience with industrial mechanical and electrical problems. Able to troubleshoot new problems independently.
Other Competencies:
- Oversees’ and helps direct work being performed on the weekend.
- Participate in training of production and maintenance personnel.
- Experience with building, grounds and general building maintenance.
- Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.
Physical:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs, lift, bend, kneel, stand for long periods of time, work in confined spaces, and work with heights.
