Job Summary:
Our client, a prestigious law firm, seeks a highly skilled Senior Litigation Paralegal to join their team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting attorneys through all stages of litigation, from case inception to resolution. This position demands a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a proven ability to manage complex litigation matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Preparation and Management:
- Oversee the organization and maintenance of case files, including drafting comprehensive case summaries and ensuring timely document preparation.
- Manage both electronic and physical case files, meticulously organizing pleadings, discovery documents, correspondence, and exhibits.
- Document Preparation and Filing:
- Draft, edit, and format essential legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and subpoenas.
- Manage all filings with state and federal courts, demonstrating proficiency in e-filing systems and ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Discovery Support:
- Coordinate the discovery process, including reviewing and organizing requests, responses, and document productions.
- Conduct initial document reviews, facilitate document collection, and prepare detailed discovery summaries.
- Trial Preparation and Assistance:
- Compile trial materials, including binders, exhibits, and witness lists; coordinate logistics for trial preparation and attendance.
- Provide on-site support during trials, managing documents and assisting with evidence presentation.
- Legal Research and Fact Investigation:
- Conduct in-depth legal and factual research to support case strategies, identify relevant precedents, and assist in brief preparation.
- Engage in fact-finding activities, including client interviews and external information gathering.
- Calendar Management and Case Tracking:
- Monitor and manage all case-related deadlines, court dates, and client meetings to ensure adherence to legal timelines.
- Maintain a centralized scheduling system to keep attorneys informed of critical dates.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 5 years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal, preferably in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in all phases of litigation, including pre-trial, trial, and post-trial activities.
- Proven ability to manage complex cases involving multiple parties and extensive discovery.
- Education and Certification:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is preferred.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of California and Federal court procedures, including electronic filing systems.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in litigation software (e.g., Relativity, Concordance), legal research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis), and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with attorneys, clients, and court personnel.
