General Job Description
The Property Technical Specialist is responsible for managing and executing all audio- visual (AV) needs for events and meetings hosted at the hotel. In addition, this role provides IT support for hotel operations, including troubleshooting front desk systems, Micros (point-of-sale), and other property technology. This position ensures a seamless technological experience for both guests and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Audio-Visual (AV) Support:
- Set up, operate and troubleshoot AV equipment, including projectors, microphones, speakers and lightning systems for events and meetings.
- Coordinate with event organizers to ensure AV requirements are met.
- Maintain and manage AV inventory and equipment, ensuring proper storage, cleaning and repairs.
- Provide on-site technical support during events to address any issues promptly.
- Creativity, attention to detail, and flexibility.
- Testing the equipment to ensure everything is connected correctly.
IT Support:
- Provide first-line support for hotel staff regarding UT systems, including front desk software and Micros POS systems.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, escalating complex problems to the appropriate IT team when necessary.
- Assist with network connectivity, printers, and other technology-related needs.
- Conduct regular maintenance and updates on property technology systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist Director of Facilities on Marriott IT system updates.
- Program OLT/ONT on Panorama system.
- Conduct system integrity test on OLTs, switches and other network equipment.
- Program Different VLANs
- Troubleshoot Network Outlets, cables, connections.
- Inspect Equipment and recommend updates/upgrades.
- Inspect and test the Hotels WI-FI system to make sure it is in optimal working order.
- Other Assignments as required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in AV setup and troubleshooting, preferably in a hospitality or events setting.
- Basic understanding of IT systems, including POS software and front desk operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills under the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with guests, vendors and hotel staff.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for events.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in AV technology or IT support are a plus.
- Experience with Micros or similar POS systems.
- Familiarity with hotel operations and guest services.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and more heavy AV equipment,
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
