The Project Manager for Compensation Operations will drive and shepherd the delivery efforts for new cross-functional initiatives (projects and programs) that enable Marriott to achieve its goals and support becoming the “World’s Favorite Travel Company.” This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating activities related to Compensation Operations, ensuring objectives are accomplished within prescribed timeframes and funding parameters. The Project Manager will partner with and organize across Compensation teams to plan and deliver cross-functional initiatives and experiences, managing multiple efforts related to launching new projects and programs in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership:
- Drive multiple simultaneous compensation projects from start to finish, delivering value to the organization.
- Direct the work of the project team, including other project managers, on a project-by-project basis.
- Identify and coordinate with resources required for projects.
- Provide cross-functional visibility into status, resourcing needs, granular requirements, dates, and escalations for assigned projects.
- Function as an escalation point for project teams to resolve issues.
- Perform project planning, including identifying and developing project goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, risk identification, contingency plans, resource allocation, and deliverables.
- Serve as a liaison with Compensation Operations, HR Technology, and Global Technology teams.
- Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks.
- Partner with project stakeholders for project delivery and governance processes.
- Direct, coordinate, and report on activities of project personnel to monitor projects, ensuring they progress on schedule and within budget.
- Develop and deliver all required project management deliverables, including progress reports, change requests, meeting notes, and presentations.
- Effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Bi-weekly Meeting Agenda and Calls: Conduct meetings to cover upcoming/past due cycle activities, in-flight projects, and Jira monitoring.
- Annual and Quarterly Project Plan: Create and maintain cycle project plans and follow-ups, including Quarterly Bonus, Annual Bonus, Stock, Merit, and Change Statement.
- Requirements Capture (Smartsheet): Drive tracking/follow-up to ensure all requirements are captured across cycles.
- Requirements Meetings: Organize meetings to review cycle requirements.
- Cycle Test Planning and Testing: Ensure all test plans and scenarios have been reviewed and approved and provide test management tracking for execution and defect resolution.
Required:
- 7 years of project management experience with demonstrated involvement in compensation or related projects.
- 5 years of project management experience leading large, matrix teams in a dynamic environment.
- Undergraduate degree, equivalent experience, or certification.
- Project Management Certification or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced, often ambiguous, and event-driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver time-bound projects while leveraging project management methodologies.
- Graduate degree.
- Experience managing projects and tasks within compensation systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management methodology and program management.
- Demonstrated ability to provide and clearly communicate status, actions, risks, and solutions.
- Demonstrated record of managing internal and external projects from inception to successful implementation.
- Solid understanding of current compensation technologies with the ability to develop and deliver projects using leading-edge technologies.
- Ability to align and execute change management strategies with projects.
- Skilled in conceptualizing creative solutions, documenting them, and presenting/selling them to senior management.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
- Very high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output in a team environment.
