Mars Technominds is seeking a Data Operations for 6 Month Contract position with a client located in Pittsburgh, PA


Job Summary:

  • We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Data Operations Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing, optimizing, and ensuring the integrity of data workflows for a leading data aggregator in the financial services industry, with a specific focus on broker-dealers. This role requires a deep understanding of financial data, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Data Management:

  • Collect, process, and validate large volumes of financial data from various sources, including broker-dealers, trading platforms, and market data providers.
  • Identify and close gaps in data, including detecting empty fields, missing data, or discrepancies, and taking corrective action to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency by performing routine quality checks and implementing automated validation processes.
  • Monitor data feeds and troubleshoot any discrepancies or interruptions in data flow.
  • Data Aggregation:
  • Aggregate and normalize data from multiple sources to create comprehensive datasets for use in analysis, reporting, and client delivery.
  • Maintain and update data aggregation processes as new data sources or client requirements emerge.


Data Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct detailed reviews to identify any data inconsistencies or anomalies and develop strategies to address and correct these issues.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to refine data collection and processing methods, ensuring all data fields are accurately populated and aligned with industry standards.
  • Reporting & Analysis:
  • Generate, customize, and distribute regular and ad-hoc reports to internal teams and external clients.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvements.


Automation & Optimization:

  • Develop and maintain automated data processing pipelines to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and IT teams to enhance data infrastructure and implement new tools or technologies.
  • Compliance & Security:
  • Ensure data handling processes comply with industry regulations, such as FINRA and SEC guidelines, as well as company policies.
  • Implement and maintain data security protocols to protect sensitive financial information.


Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with other departments, including product management, client services, and IT, to ensure alignment on data requirements and delivery timelines.
  • Provide support and training to team members on data-related tools and processes.
  • Qualifications:
  • Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in data operations, data management, or a related role within financial services, preferably with a focus on broker-dealers.
  • Experience with financial data systems, market data providers, and data aggregation platforms.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other data manipulation languages.
  • Experience with ETL processes and data pipeline tools (e.g., Apache Kafka, AWS Glue).
  • Strong understanding of financial instruments, market data, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
