Position Title: Fertilization and Weed Control Technician
Department: Field Operations
Reports To: Crew Lead/Production Manager

Position Overview:
The Fertilization and Weed Control Technician is responsible for the application of fertilizers, weed control treatments, aeration, overseeding, and occasional seeding services to ensure the health and beauty of client lawns. This role requires knowledge of turf management practices, compliance with Ohio licensing requirements, and a commitment to high-quality service. The technician must be capable of operating application equipment, maintaining accurate records, and providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:1. Fertilization and Weed Control Application:
- Accurately apply fertilizers, herbicides, and other lawn care products according to label instructions and industry standards.
- Perform weed identification and customize treatment plans to address specific client needs.
- Safely handle and store all chemicals in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
2. Lawn Maintenance Services:
- Perform lawn aeration and overseeding to promote turf health and growth.
- Execute seeding tasks as needed to repair bare spots or enhance lawn density.
- Assess lawn conditions and recommend additional treatments or services to clients as appropriate.
3. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Operate and maintain spreaders, sprayers, and other application equipment.
- Perform routine equipment inspections to ensure functionality and safety.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or repair needs to the Production Manager.
4. Regulatory Compliance and Documentation:
- Maintain an active Ohio pesticide applicator license or technician license.
- Keep accurate records of all applications, including dates, products used, and coverage areas, as required by law.
- Follow all state and federal regulations regarding chemical applications and safety protocols.
5. Customer Service:
- Communicate with clients to explain services performed and answer any questions.
- Provide lawn care tips and recommendations to help clients maintain healthy landscapes.
- Address client concerns or escalate issues to the appropriate supervisor.
6. Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including vehicles and job sites.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in lawn care or turf management preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Coursework or certifications in horticulture or turf management are a plus.
- Licensing:
- Must possess a valid Ohio pesticide applicator license or technician license.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of fertilizers, herbicides, and turf management techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
- Capability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
Work Environment:
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and cold.
- Operate equipment and tools in a safe and effective manner.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly wage based on experience. Quarterly bonuses based on production.

Pay: $43,680.00 - $64,000.00 per year
