Job Responsibilities :
- Provides friendly customer service.
- Assists pharmacist in providing effective, appropriate, and safe pharmacy services.
- Performs all pharmacy dispensing functions with accuracy and efficiency, including but not limited to data entry, pill counts, fill, POS, third party rejections.
- Assist patients with getting financial support if needed, including verifying patient eligibility, foundation assistance, manufacturer copay assistance, and / or 340B resources.
- Follows all policies and procedures, to ensure all patients are taken care of and all information is relayed appropriately.
- Answers telephones quickly and with courtesy.
- Pulls and counts medication from the shelves accurately and according to the label.
- Follows all laws set forth by the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy.
- Maintains accurate and complete patient records, including allergies, updated insurance information, prescriptions, etc.
- Assists in inventory management to meet patient and financial needs
- Assists with prior authorizations, including notifying the patient and provider and working for resolution.
- Informs pharmacist of any alerts from the pharmacy system, including contraindications, interactions, and allergies.
- Participates in maintaining sanitary and safe practices.
- Maintains regular attendance and follows all policies and procedures.
- Promptly reports any allegations of impropriety to the Human Resources department.
- Remains free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare / Medicaid lists.
- Works with clinical pharmacy department and staff on specialty prescription needs
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Assists in all processes as required by the specialty pharmacy accrediting bodies.
- Assists in any and all staff huddles and meetings.
- Assures correct delivery of all patient's medications.
- Works with patient assistance technician on financial needs for patients
- Routinely checks foundations for financial needs
- Maintains complete and accurate patient records
- Assists with the quality improvement process
- Stays up to date with all training and licensing requirements
- Assists with accreditation audits and preparation
Education : High School Diploma or GED required. Must hold current National Certification or equivalent.
Experience : Minimum 2 years' experience in a retail pharmacy position.
