POSITION SUMMARY
The Charge Nurse/Lead RN acts as a role model and mentor for new and experienced staff. Is responsible for coordination of safe and efficient patient care and flow, assignment delegation in accordance with individual skill and level of training, and directs and oversees the provision of quality patient care and optimal patient and family centered birthing experiences. Coordinates resource allocation, facilitates problem solving and resolution according to the Birth Center structure standards, Patient Care Services (generic) structure standards, the department philosophy and in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Marshall Medical Center. Duties may include performance improvement activities and floating to other patient care departments to perform duties within the RN scope of practice such as patient care tasks and assuming patient care assignments.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- Current California Registered Nursing (RN) License required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring proof of attendance within the past 12 months required.
Knowledge:
- 2 years' experience in all phases of perinatal care.
- 2 years' experience supervising and directing staff.
Skills:
- Excellent patient assessment skills are required.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively prioritize multiple concurrent tasks.
- Skilled in triage of unscheduled patients presenting for care and understands EMTALA guidelines to facilitate timely provision and assessment for completion of the Medical Screening Exam.
- Skilled in providing care for the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and mother/baby couplet patient.
- Skilled in the provision of pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care for patients experiencing a cesarean delivery.
- Skilled in providing newborn care according to current nursery licensing.
- Must demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills, including compassionate and effective communication with patients, as well as effective communication with physicians, nurses and other staff.
- Ability to communicate with and direct staff effectively.
Salary : $67 - $84
