POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President of Pharmaceutical Services is a key executive leader responsible for the strategic oversight and operational management of all pharmaceutical services within the organization. This role involves leading hospital, infusion, retail, ambulatory care, and specialty pharmacy services, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care while optimizing financial performance, including opportunities through the 340B program.
The Vice President works collaboratively with senior leadership and clinical teams to develop and implement pharmacy-related strategies that enhance patient outcomes, streamline operations, and ensure regulatory compliance. This role is responsible for guiding the overall vision for pharmaceutical services, advancing innovation, and integrating pharmacy services across the care continuum.
Key areas of focus include medication safety, formulary management, optimizing 340B savings, leveraging pharmacy technologies, and implementing cost-containment measures. The Vice President of Pharmaceutical Services also plays a critical role in staff development, fostering a culture of collaboration, and leading initiatives to improve clinical and operational outcomes across all pharmacy-related services.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.): required
- Current Registered Pharmacist Licensure (California Board of Pharmacy): required
- Advanced management training (MBA, MHA, MS or similar) or completion of a ASHP accredited residency in hospital pharmacy administration: highly preferred
- Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) or similar certification: highly preferred
Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical services within a healthcare setting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong background in clinical pharmacy practice, medication management, regulatory compliance, 340B program management, and pharmaceutical operations.
Skills:
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and management skills.
- Excellent communication skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, pharmacists, nurses and healthcare administrators.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and direct peer group and interdisciplinary project teams, utilizing influence and collaboration.
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices in pharmaceutical care.
- Thorough understanding of 340b program and associated regulations.
