Assistant Water Operator

Marshall & Polk Rural Water System is hiring an Assistant Operator to expand our team. Desired Work Experience: water main maintenance & construction, water meters, pumps, electrical controls, valves, chemicals & chemical equipment, and iron removal filters. Minimum Requirements: high school diploma, valid MN Driver's License, good driving record, and a Class D Minnesota Water Operator's Certificate or ability to obtain one within 12 months of employment.

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Assistant Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the operation of our water and wastewater treatment facilities. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to perform heavy lifting, and a commitment to ensuring the efficient and safe operation of equipment. The Assistant Operator will work closely with senior operators to monitor systems, collect data, and maintain compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation and monitoring of water treatment processes.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
• Conduct heavy lifting tasks as required for equipment handling and maintenance.
• Analyze system data and assist in troubleshooting issues related to distributed control systems and logic controllers.
• Collect research data for operational assessments and reporting purposes.
• Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and any incidents that occur during shifts.
• Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in water treatment preferred.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks (up to 50 pounds) as required by the role.
• Familiarity with logic controllers is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for monitoring systems effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
• Commitment to safety practices and environmental regulations.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
