The School of Music at Marshall University invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2025. Primary responsibilities include teaching music technology, music industry, and music production courses, as well as mentoring recording studio apprenticeships and guiding student and faculty recording projects. As a secondary area of specialization, the successful candidate should ideally be adept at teaching music theory/aural skills courses, music history courses, or another area of musical expertise.
The school also seeks candidates who will contribute to the University’s general education curriculum and its emphasis on using high-impact teaching practices, particularly those affiliated with one (or more) of the institution’s pedagogical initiatives (e.g., Community-based Learning, Critical Thinking, First Year Seminar, Writing Across Curriculum, etc.). Additionally, the ideal candidate will contribute to the College’s support of interdisciplinary programs of study.
Doctoral degree in Music required (ABD considered and encouraged to apply).
Official transcripts must be forwarded by their degree-granting institutions to Dr. Maria Gindhart (gindhart@marshall.edu), Dean, College of Arts & Media, Marshall University.
Location MU - Marshall University Salary Range 50,000.00 - 60,000.00 - Salary is commensurate upon education, experience, and internal equity

- Work week is 37.5 hrs.
