The College of Engineering and Computer Sciences at Marshall University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Practice of Engineering. Reporting to the Chair of the Department, the position requires teaching, academic advising, service to the university and engineering profession, and engaging in activities to support ongoing professional development and technical currency. The faculty member in this position will be required to teach undergraduate courses in fundamental areas of engineering sciences, such as first-year engineering experiences (i.e., introduction to engineering, computer-aided drafting, engineering computations), statics, dynamics, mechanics of deformable bodies, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, etc.
The position is a 9-month, non-tenure-track (CLINICAL) appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, and the salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Subject to satisfactory performance, there is not a pre-established limit on the amount of time that a person could be employed in this position.

Education
- An undergraduate degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, engineering science/mechanics, or another closely related field from an ABET-accredited program.
- A master’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, engineering science/mechanics, or another closely related field.
- Outstanding communication and teaching skills.
- Experience mentoring other engineers who are joining the profession.
- A passion to bring their past engineering experiences into the classroom.
Education
- A Ph.D. in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, engineering science/mechanics, or another closely-related field.
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)
- Previous experience as the instructor of record for a college-level course.
