FACULTY POSITION: Neuroscience Faculty Position MARSHALL UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCESThe Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Science at Marshall University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in neuroscience at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants must have a PhD in neuroscience, biology, or a related field, and at least two years of relevant postdoctoral experience.This position is partially supported through the NSF EPSCoR Track I award West Virginia Network for Functional Neuroscience and Transcriptomics (WV-NFNT). WV-NFNT is building inter-institutional capacity for investigating synaptic and circuit plasticity through high resolution structure-function techniques. New faculty and technical hires, and resources purchased through the award including a new super resolution STED microscope and a pipeline for cutting edge spatial transcriptomics, are expanding on existing strengths in neuroscience, imaging, and -omics science within the department and university. New hires who began is Fall 2024 include a neuroscientist and bioinformaticist. The successful candidates will be expected to become part of the WV-NFNT research team. We are interested in many research foci and model organisms within the broad WV-NFNT scope, in particular research related to immune function, metabolic regulation and dysregulation, and responses to exogenous drugs or other stimuli.Teaching responsibilities will predominantly be in the department’s core courses for biology majors, which depending on the successful candidates expertise may include neuroscience, physiology, or histology. The hire will also be expected to develop and teach new graduate and upper-level undergraduate courses in their specific area of expertise. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. We are particularly interested in candidates with qualifications and a desire to teach immunology, metabolism, or histology, along with neuroscience-related topics.Our Department and College value a commitment to excellent teaching and research.
