Marshall University is seeking a program coordinator for the office of the MU Wellness Center to assist in the planning and implementation of education, prevention, and intervention outreach programs and initiatives to address student health, wellness, health promotion, and risk reduction. Substance misuse, mental health, stress management, sexual health, infectious disease, and other related areas will be the focus areas. This position will require a flexible schedule, including working some evenings and weekends. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Wellness within the Division of Intercultural and Student Affairs.Duties, including but are not limited to:Provide assistance in the planning, developing, and implementing programs and initiatives that address student health, wellness, and health promotion.Coordinating all campus prevention and outreach programs, including AOD prevention and risk reduction activities, such as AlcoholEdu and Prescription Drug Education.Develop and coordinate screening and brief intervention services for students on campus, i.e. BASICS.Developing and coordinating awareness activities and outreach programs addressing students’ sexual health and reduction of infectious diseases, i.e., Student health screenings and seminars.Coordinate programs to raise awareness of mental health concerns and implement programs to assist students with stress management and to increase resiliency and coping skills, such as mindfulness.Collaborate with campus entities to increase awareness and support prevention and risk reduction outreach activities related to public health and infectious disease, such as Flu vaccination clinics, wellness fairs, and health promotion marketing.Collaborate with campus partners to assist in developing and coordinating outreach activities to increase student awareness around general nutrition and related eating concerns and disorders.Coordinate assessment/evaluation of Wellness programs and services, including the National College Health Assessment, and assist the director in compiling the biennial AOD campus report. As applicable, participate in other related assessment/program evaluation activities on campus and within the community.Develop and implement group-specific training for students and staff, e.g., bystander intervention related to AOD and mental health. Serve as a resource and advise student groups on evidence-based prevention strategies in planning events.Collaborate and coordinate with campus, community, and national partners to address high-risk behavior and prevention initiatives on campus, including research opportunities.Serve as advisor to student groups working on health-related initiatives on campus.Work to secure external funding/grants for special projects and programs as opportunities arise.
