Job Summary: Responsible for supporting families by advocating and educating; linking Head Start families to comprehensive services to meet families’ needs; act as a liaison between the school, campus personnel, parents and Head Start staff; assist in building a positive relationship with school districts and communities; collaborate with community agencies and makes referrals; conduct home visits; assist families with their individualized goals; maintain accurate data and assist with Active Supervision of Head Start children; implement the Head Start Performance standards and other program regulations.
Qualifications:
Education/Training:
High School Diploma / GED
Prefer college hours or Associates Degree
Prefer credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or related field
Experience:
At least 0-5 years of related experience.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Comply with ESC Administrative and Head Start Department Procedures, follow established procedures in Family Service Worker/Advocate Manual and LiveBinders
- Maintain audit-ready records, including up-to-date case notes
- Keep designated supervisor and Head Start campus principal or designated ISD staff informed of daily schedule, absences and late-arrivals/leaving early
- Work closely and effectively communicate with program Component staff and stakeholders to ensure children and families receive high quality, comprehensive, integrated services
- Work cooperatively and professionally with ISD/child care staff, parents/guardians
- Complete reports accurately and timely as required (travel, MIS, )
- Utilize Active Supervision strategies throughout the day and be present during assigned transition times
- Scan documents into ChildPlus within 48 hours of receipt
Program Compliance/ERSEA & Parent Engagement:
- Accurately complete child enrollment information
- Maintain designated enrollment, an active waitlist and implement on-going recruitment efforts throughout the school year
- Monitor and document daily attendance
- Immediately update parent contact information in ChildPlus
- Complete PFCE Outcome Assessments within established timeframe
- Facilitate, maintain and complete individualized Family Partnership Agreements
- Plan, attend and implement parent engagement meetings and activities
- Continually recruit and provide training for program volunteers
Health/Safety/Nutrition:
- Assist Health staff with screenings and parent appointments
- Maintain and track health records and follow-up care, requesting records as needed
- Assist parents in accessing health insurance for children
- Scan and report immediately special dietary needs/MD documented food allergies to Health/Nutrition Support and assigned Head Start nurse, file original document(s) in child’s manila folder
- Assist in identifying nutritional concerns of children and/or cultural preferences of parents and communicate to appropriate staff, entering documents into ChildPlus as needed
- Obtain heights/weights of children and enter into ChildPlus
- Submit snack, breakfast, and lunch menus monthly, and Health Inspection reports annually
- Assist in scheduling appointments for Nutrition Specialist and parents
Education:
- Assist with coverage in classroom, if needed, during Education reflective visits with teachers
- Plan with and accompany teacher on home visits and field trips
- Scan Parent Contact forms, Brigance Developmental/SE screeners into ChildPlus
Student Support Services:
- Assist with communication between families and Student Support Services component
- Complete Mental Health referrals in ChildPlus when requested by families
- Submit Special Education and Mental Health Contractor sign-in sheets at the end of the month
- Notify Disabilities staff of scheduled ECI/ARD meetings
- Assist Disabilities staff in gathering, scanning and maintaining current ECI/ARD documentation
- Assist the Disabilities staff in recruiting efforts to meet the 10% disabilities mandate and report suspected/newly identified/newly enrolled children with disabilities to Student Support Services Coordinator
Other:
- Represent Region 7 ESC in a professional manner in all situations
- Maintain confidentiality of all information
- Regular and reliable attendance.
