Assistant Area Coordinators (AAC)Marshall University’s Department of Housing and Residence Life is seeking candidates who are outgoing, energetic, and skilled applicants for a live-on, 20 hour a week graduate assistantship responsible for joint supervision of a campus residence hall community. Assistant Area Coordinators are responsible for assisting professional Area Coordinators with daily management of the residence halls.Major Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Supervision and Staff DevelopmentOversee a residential community composed of 250-450 freshmen and upper-class studentsAssist in the supervision of 6-16 Resident AdvisorsAssist in implantation of a residential curriculumParticipate in all staff training and selection processesStudent and Community DevelopmentOpportunities to advise housing student leadership organizationsAssist in the implementation of residential curriculumHandle roommate meditationsServe as hearing officer for judicial casesAssist in campus-wide academic initiativesPlan and implement community and campus initiativesCoordinate staff developmental effortsAdministrative TasksMaintain 15 weekly office hours (4 of which must occur after 5pm) and a high degree of availability and visibilityMaintain all student records in conjunction with Area CoordinatorParticipate in on-call duty rotationRespond to campus crisisAssist in creating building reportsAttend weekly staff meetingsAssist in opening and closing of residential communitiesTracking areas of the budget for their assigned communityDepartment EffortsAssist in strategic planningParticipate in the organization of at least one departmental program initiativeOther duties as assigned
