Description:
Reporting to the Forge Supervisor, the Shear Cut Operator is responsible for unloading steel bars, safely operator the lift truck, set up shear and shear bars of steel to prescribed lengths and store cut steel and maintain proper identification. Other required duties may include plowing snow or cleaning steel yard, detecting unusual conditions and report to the supervisor, keeping the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, as well as receiving steel, measuring steel with calipers and count.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, required.
- Perform a task requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing, and extending arms.
- Operate machinery for extended periods of time.
- Stand on concrete for up to a 12-hour shift.
- Bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift.
- This work is physically demanding and can require the use of some or all body parts and muscle groups. Some positions may require repetitive lifting up to 75lbs. or lifting of objects using mechanical assistance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Attention to detail and quality control.
- Prior experience performing setups and operating powered industrial truck equipment, strongly preferred.
