JOB SUMMARY
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Hospitalist is a skilled member of the allied health care team, who is expected to practice at the highest level of their licensure. This requires providers to stay up to date with the latest evidence based medicine. They work collaboratively with the Physician Hospitalist to facilitate acute care of the adult patient. This individual works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, case managers and other health care disciplines utilizing a team approach. The nurse practitioner participates in all aspects of care of the hospitalized patient including admissions, discharge, daily rounds and patient education.
This role is has 24 hour shifts 7 days straight with 14 days off.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Minimum Required : Masters, Physician Assistant, Post-Masters in Nursing (MSN) or Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from an accredited nursing program within the APNP’s specialty area which included supervised clinical practicum.
Preferred / Optional : None
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required : Some previous nursing experience in a hospital setting.
Preferred / Optional : Three years’ experience as a staff nurse or nurse practitioner in a hospital setting preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
Minimum Required :
- License requirement- Active RN license and an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber Certification for the applicable State.
- Certification requirement- Current certification by the American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or an equivalent body recognized by the applicable State for care of the Adult Patient Population.
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred / Optional : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire. Adult Gerontology NP or Adult Acute Care NP Certification.
