Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - Hospitalist

UP Health System - Portage, part of regional UP Health System in Hancock, Michigan (UP, the gateway to the Keweenaw Peninsula) is seeking a full time BC/BE Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join and strengthen our established hospitalist team. Those who are currently practicing or are currently in training can be considered. 

In this role, you will coordinate care in the acute hospital setting with collaboration from attending hospitalist physician and the interdisciplinary team: consulting physicians, ancillary staff, nursing, and support staff. Clinical responsibilities include comprehensive evaluations, medical management, therapeutic interventions, patient education, and discharge summaries. You will report to and receive functional guidance and direction from supervising physician and the medicine section chief of staff.

Position detail:

•         Open part-time Hospitalist APP position
•         130, 12- hour night shifts per year
•         Employed Hospitalist and Hospitalist APP group
•         100% inpatient (inclusive if inpatient, observation, and swing bed patients)
•         Collegial and supportive practice environment
•          Average daily census 18 inpatient/observation, 5 swing bed
•          Schedule: Night shift on-site 7pm-7am with Hospitalist physician on-call.
•          Hospital EMR: Meditech Magic
•   Anesthesiology MDA/CRNA coverage for intubations, central line insertions; General surgery coverage for central line insertions, other bedside procedures. 

Position Requirements:
Master’s Degree Required
Current State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant Licensure Required
Annual Influenza Vaccination or Declination Required
