JOB SUMMARY
The Phlebotomist greets and instructs our patients on sample collection procedures and performs blood and urine collection procedures utilizing standard collection methods. The individual must follow strict patient identification policies including verification of specimen labels applied to patient samples. The Phlebotomist has continuous patient contact and is the laboratory’s ambassadors to our patients and must follow applicable organizational policies.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Minimum Required : High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred / Optional : Successful completion of a post-secondary medical terminology course.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required : None
Preferred / Optional : One year phlebotomy experience with venipuncture and capillary puncture. Knowledge of medical terminology or exposure to a medical environment.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
Minimum Required : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred / Optional : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
Stevens Point Center is both a clinic and hospital setting. Primary responsibility will be drawing Monday - Friday in clinic, which is open 7 AM to 5 PM.
