What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Manager - Proximo (Connecticut) position at MARTIGNETTI COMPANIES?
Responsible for the achievement of all sales, gross profit, and inventory management objectives for the Proximo Spirits portfolio in Connecticut while working within margin and inventory parameters set by the company. The portfolio manager is the conduit of all sales and owns all communication to the salesforce and related departments pertinent to Proximo’s daily business needs.
Key Accountabilities:
- Negotiate and monitor initial and ongoing pricing, support, terms, samples, marketing policies, channel sales restrictions, etc. with the supplier
- Collaborate with supplier managers to set monthly goals on case volume and programming goals (displays, menus, distribution, features, etc.)
- Responsible for creating and implementing monthly and quarterly programs to achieve supplier FY targets
- Responsible for communicating with all sales divisions on pricing, programs, and all relevant aspects of the selling of the portfolio
- Manage all internal financial aspects including our LMF as well as the team’s expenses
- Call on key accounts with sales representatives and managers, and solo to ensure placements, volume, and execution of all programs in targeted accounts
- Assume responsibility for monthly recap results of both case goals and programs
- Monitor pricing changes and review beverage journal
- Identify, develop, and support opportunities for compelling market events
- Present and develop sales plans for the sales force on a bi-monthly basis
- Forecast and communicate future needs based on trends, programming, etc.
- Manage and monitor all aspects of portfolio inventory
- Provide senior management with clear communication regarding updates on sales trends, challenges, etc. on an as needed basis
- Act as liaison between all departments and vendors under management – Purchasing, Warehouse and Delivery, Sales, Finance, etc.
- Manage & supervise supplier communication, accounts receivable, and budgetary needs
- Lead, manage, and develop internal Proximo portfolio team of 2 Business Development Managers
- Conduct regular review meetings with all reports to evaluate performance against KPIs, market activations, and strategic initiatives
- Establish corrective measures, where necessary, to ensure improved performance and adherence to performance standards
- Serve as internal and external training resource providing brand and category education
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong Leadership skills including coaching and training capabilities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong selling, presentation, people and diplomacy skills
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office Programs.
- Solid product knowledge
- Knowledge of On and Off Premise Pricing Models
- Solid financial acumen with the ability to use budgeting and forecasting methods
- Ability to use basic budgeting and forecasting methods
- Ability to program with suppliers and distributors
- Attention to detail and timely reporting
- Superb time management skills
- Strong analytical skills
Education/Training/Experience:
- College degree required
- Five plus years of Sales and/or Portfolio management experience in the beverage alcohol industry
- Candidate must possess a valid CT driver’s license and registration
Physical Demands and Environment:
- Work performed requires no measurable physical exertion and may require lifting objects weighing up to 10 pounds
- Work requires frequent standing or walking throughout the workday
- Work requires a significant level of mental concentration to manage multiple complex tasks requiring continual mental and visual focus
- Work requires travel and exposure to weather conditions while visiting customers, prospects, or vendors
- Potential for accidents due to over-the-road travel including traffic accidents, delivery of goods, or the set up of displays
