What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Technician position at Martin County Board of County Commissioners?
In the event of a natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee may be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

Assists in inventory of drainage facilities and hydrologic features including; surveying, mapping, modeling and database construction and management.
Assists in the acquisition of rainfall, flow, stage, ground water and water quality data.
Reviews site and construction plans for development and public works projects to assure conformance with Martin County Codes and Ordinances, the Martin County Comprehensive Growth Management Plan and the Martin County Land Development Code as relates to storm water management.
Performs data collection including asset condition, turbidity sampling, stream gauging and surveying.
Performs office research and field investigation of drainage inquiries with written and verbal response to superiors and public on same.
Assists, directs and performs data collection from, maintenance on, programming and installation of automated data collection equipment.
Builds, maintains, manages and enters facility data into databases and models.
Prepares reports from applicable databases.
Coordinates with other agencies to acquire and add data to Martin County databases.
Prepares and/or directs preparation of design plans and drawings.
Investigates, responds and resolves public inquiries. Performs work related to this job description as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of computers including electronic data manipulation and management, use of spreadsheets, word processing GIS, and CAD software.
Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations relating to water resources.
Knowledge of civil engineering practices.
Proficient ability in mathematics including algebra, geometry, trigonometry and fundamentals of statistics.
Ability to write concise technical materials.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, contractors, consulting engineers, and the general public.
High School diploma or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and four (4) years' experience in civil engineering.
Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a valid class E or higher Florida Driver's License
