What are the responsibilities and job description for the Treatment Plant Operator A, B or C position at Martin County Board of County Commissioners?

Regulates rate of flow of water to process units, chemical feed equipment and backwash filters when necessary.
Maintains chemical inventory, (chlorine, ammonia, acid, caustic, aniti-scalant, etc.) and equipment.
Maintains data logs and prepares operating reports, maintains proper water pressure and storage tank levels.
Oversee the operation of emergency power generator equipment
Compile lab testing data and log a variety flow data.
Utilizes computer software to monitor plant operations and data collection for water treatment effectiveness.
Performs clerical and manual work necessary for clear, concise reports and fluent operation, including maintaining accurate shift logs and laboratory determinations.
Informs relief operator and Treatment Plant Chief Operator of mechanical defects, or work hazards and other areas of concern observed while on shift.
Performs work related to this job description as required.

Ability to prioritize emergency responses necessary for continuity of operation facilities.
Ability to inspect machinery and other mechanical equipment in operation and to detect flaw
and defects in operation.
Ability to read and interpret information from meters and charts accurately, to maintain record
of shift operations and to perform chemical analyses accurately.
Ability to adjust treatment procedures to satisfy requirements of varying flow volumes to be treated.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to supervise and to evaluate subordinate's performance.
Ability to maintain working relationships with subordinates and co-workers
Graduation from high school, vocational school supplemented with courses in chemistry and mathematics or equivalency diploma.
Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License
Possession of a current Class "C" certification as a Water or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator as issued by the State of Florida.CAREER PATH FOR TREATMENT PLANT OPERATORS:
This position holds a career path of which incumbents who attained a higher-level license will be promoted to the minimum of new grade or five (5) percent, whichever is higher. Career path information is outlined below:
Treatment Plant Operator C:
Must possess licensure by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) in Water or Wastewater C Operator to be classified as a Treatment Plant Operator C, Pay Grade 961.
Starting Pay Grade: Grade 963
Treatment Plant Operator B:
Upon receiving a licensure by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) in Water or Wastewater B Operator, incumbent will be reclassified from Treatment Plant Operator C to Treatment Plant Operator B, Pay Grade 963 or five (5) percent, whichever is higher. Incumbent must maintain licensure of Water or Wastewater B Operator to continue in the classification of Treatment Plant Operator B and upon no longer maintaining licensure, incumbent will be demoted as outlined under Teamsters Bargaining Unit Article 19 – Demotions.
Starting Pay Grade: Grade 964 (if above the starting rate, they will be adjusted to 5% of their current salary)
Treatment Plant Operator A:
Upon receiving a licensure by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) in Water or Wastewater A Operator, incumbent will be reclassified from Treatment Plant Operator B to Treatment Plant Operator A, Pay Grade 965 or five (5) percent, whichever is higher. Incumbent must maintain licensure of Water or Wastewater A Operator to continue in the classification of Treatment Plant Operator A and upon no longer maintaining licensure, incumbent will be demoted as outlined under Teamsters Bargaining Unit Article 19 – Demotions.
Starting Pay: Pay Grade 965 (if above the starting rate, they will be adjusted to 5% of their current salary)
