Job Title: Host and Hostess
Department: Parks and Recreation
Pay: $15.00/hr.
Location: Sailfish Sands Restaurant & Bar
Position is CONTRACT working at Martin County Parks and Recreation
Must have weekend availability.
SUMMARY:
This is a skilled position that focuses on providing customer service through the assigned areas and may involve: opening/closing facilities, setting up and breaking down of events and activities, cash handling and processing customer transactions, deliveries, other general parks and recreation supported activities. Work is reviewed through employee observation, facility inspection written and oral reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Arrives to work on time as scheduled in full uniform. Holds the door for incoming and departing Guests. Greets and welcomes all Guests, job applicants and vendors in a warm and friendly manner.
Seats Guests at tables in the restaurant or hitting bays. Rotates seating with different servers to ensure even workloads for Servers, as well as ensure prompt service.
When seating Guests, advises them of the server’s name and daily specials.
Provides Guests with silverware and menus.
Assists servers in bussing dishes, sanitizing, and resetting tables
Works directly with other Front of house Team Members to ensure that all Guest requests are fulfilled in a timely manner
If the restaurant is on a wait, provides accurate wait times to Guests and recommends waiting area options (seating at the bar).
Answers incoming restaurant calls in a friendly, professional manner and take to-go orders and hitting bay reservations as needed.
Ensures that restrooms are kept clean and stocked.
Maintains a neat and organized work area, as well as “Specials” board.
Ensures proper sanitation of work areas, including sweeping and mopping as needed
Completes opening and closing side work.
Communicates with fellow Team Members and Management to keep one another informed.
Notifies Management immediately of any potential issue with Guests, Team Members, and/or long wait times.
Works and assists “To Go” station when assigned by Management.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette and procedures.
Knowledge of basic sanitation and safety requirements for the handling of food.
Knowledge of rules, regulations, and safety precautions related to restaurant activities.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and co-workers.
Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all ages, including interaction with children, adults, the elderly and persons with special needs.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule.
Ability to assist in special events as needed.
Ability to perform clerical duties.
Ability to maintain facilities clear of safety hazards.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalent and prior customer service including experience in a restaurant/concession, cash handling preferred.
Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License upon area of assignment.
Upon assignment, must possess Current Food Service Handler certification within thirty (30) days of employment (certification offered on premise) if working with food.
