Key Responsibilities
Dental Coding & Charge Entry
- Review and Analyze Records: Examine medical records and patient information to ensure accurate coding and billing.
- Documentation Verification: Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain missing or incomplete documentation to support proper charge entry.
- Coding Compliance: Ensure that all coding practices are compliant with dental coding guidelines and regulations.
Payment Posting & Claims Management
- Process Payments: Post payments from patients and insurance companies accurately and reconcile daily transactions with bank deposits.
- Verify Insurance Coverage: Confirm patient insurance details and process claims for reimbursement.
- Claims Follow-Up: Follow up on denied or rejected claims and resolve any billing discrepancies promptly.
Accounts Receivable (A/R) & Patient Management
- Manage Insurance and Patient A/R: Monitor overall accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
- Patient Interaction: Address patient inquiries regarding billing statements and outstanding balances, and assist in resolving discrepancies.
- Payment Coordination: Work with the front desk and collections team to resolve billing issues.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Regulatory Adherence: Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Stay Current: Keep updated on changes in dental and medical coding guidelines and regulations.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in audits and training sessions to continuously enhance billing processes and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dental billing or a related field.
- Proficiency with dental coding standards (e.g., CDT codes) and billing software.
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to review and interpret medical records.
- Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and a strong commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
