We are recruiting for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our amazing team in Dothan, AL. The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for ensuring all incoming payments are received and processed. This role requires individuals to keep a precise record of all incoming payments, accurately and promptly process payments, maintain accurate records, provide excellent customer service, and properly safeguard confidential information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare, process, post, verify, record, and reconcile customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable from multiple payment types, including checks, ACH, cash, e-checks, and credit cards.
- Create and process bank deposits.
- Categorize and post deposits in accounting software.
- Research customer discrepancies and past-due amounts with the assistance of the Billing Manager and other staff as needed.
- Work with the Billing Manager and Controller to reconcile accounts receivable.
- Provide assistance to customers and answer customer questions in person and via telephone.
- Address customer concerns and resolve issues as they arise in a professional manner.
- Create and print reports for the accounting department as requested.
- Create, maintain, and update Excel spreadsheets.
- Copy, file, and retrieve materials for accounts receivable as needed.
- Perform post office duties; drop off, pick up, sort, and distribute mail.
- Assist the collections department as needed.
- As needed, update customer information, including name or address changes, mergers, or mailing attentions.
- Relay changes of information to appropriate employees.
- Maintain an organized and clean office space.
- Ensure the needs of customers are consistently met in a professional, timely and efficient manner.
- Interact professionally with employees, customers, and vendors.
- Maintain a positive attitude and promote our corporate image by focusing on excellent customer service, cooperation, employee partnership, clear and positive phone manners and high attention to detail.
- Be alert to things that need to be done and, without being asked, take initiative to see that they get done.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of the ideal candidate include, but are not limited to, the following:
- High school diploma or equivalency required. Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
- Two (2) years of related experience.
- Must be able to pass background and drug screening.
- Working knowledge of office, administrative, and accounts receivable procedures.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of current office technology.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) as well as accounting software programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear as well as stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
