Landscape Construction Salesperson
Reports to: Sales Manager
Summary:
The Salesperson is responsible for building client relationships with innovative and creative solutions to clients landscape design problems. This position will measure, estimate, design and sell landscape design/build projects that fit with the Martin John Company standards. This position will actively seek new leads and network with prospects to assure the company can achieve budgeted sales goals.

Job Duties:
- Measure, Design and estimate jobs by site visits and client meetings
- Selling new work and upselling existing clients to help improve the property as directed by the clients
- Work with sub-contractors to assure the client is receiving all services as need to complete the work
- Update clients on scheduling of work and follow up of any concerns noted
- Working with the production teams insure the schedule of work and design integrity are in line with client expectations
- Reviewing of monthly billing for clients to assure the accuracy of invoicing
- Understanding the current workload and backlog of work to help with scheduling expectations and to assure the production crews are at full capacity daily
- Comply with all company policies and regulations
- Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the landscape/nursery industry
- Sales experience preferably in the landscape industry
- Knowledge of plant materials and hardgood materials and installation practices
- Effective communication skills – ability to communicate with internal and external clients through verbal, written, electronic, etc..
- Ability to use technology ie. Smart phones, laptops, software apps etc..
- Time management skills
- Understanding estimating and job specific gross margin requirements
- Knowledge of landscape construction materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction jobs
- Knowledge of landscape design principles
- Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Work Conditions:
- Driving of vehicles and other equipment as needed
- Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
- Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
- Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work and possible nights during snow season
