What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Accountant position at Martinus North America?
A rapidly expanding company is seeking a Project Accountant to report directly to the Controller. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in accounting and have a minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in providing commercial advice in the contract and cost control of the projects, financial production of reports and proposals and other related correspondence.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with operations to establish and update project budgets and financial forecasts.
- Conduct project analysis to identify financial risks and opportunities.
- Develop and maintain accurate project cashflows.
- Provide input for project cost tracking and financial management.
- Calculate monthly Work in Progress (WIP) figures.
- Perform variance analysis, including detailed commentary on differences from prior forecasts and budgets.
- Assist in preparing monthly payment applications and processing change orders.
- Set up new projects in Foundation ERP, ensuring accurate financial data entry.
- Support the controller and CFO in preparing cash projections.
- Address and resolve financial queries from the operations team.
- Prepare and process journals and financial reports to ensure data accuracy.
- Identify and report financial discrepancies or non-compliance issues.
- Ensure accurate and timely recoveries of outstanding amounts.
- Complete end-of-month (EOM) financial reporting processes efficiently.
Qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (preferred)
- Accrual Accounting experience
- Construction / Job Cost Accounting experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with projects and operations teams
- Foundation Software knowledge is a plus
- COINS knowledge a plus
- Microsoft Office Experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Driver’s License (required)
- US work authorization (required)
