Key Responsibilities
- Oversee vendor scheduling and oversight
- Assist with recruiting and staffing as needed
- Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., NCSD, Truckee Fire)
- Collaborate with internal departments to enhance the Martis Camp experience
- Update and track department records and data
- Assist the Assistant General Manager with day-to-day snow removal oversight
- Supervise road maintenance and replacement reserve work
- Support Martis Camp’s Forestry programs as needed
- Assist the Martis Camp Club Grounds Manager as needed
- Manage Best Management Practices (BMPs) to ensure environmental sustainability and compliance with local regulations, including reporting to Placer County
- Collaborate with the Golf Maintenance Department to ensure the quality of landscape and water management efforts
- Assist in maintaining Martis Camp’s Firewise designation
- Coordinate holiday tree lighting and decorations with contractors
- Support the Golf Maintenance Team during special events
- Provide assistance with community and club construction projects (e.g., parking lots, gatehouse expansion)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in landscape/roads/community management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional demeanor with the ability to make independent decisions
- Experience in resource management and handling multiple tasks effectively
- Equipment operation experience with Excavators, chainsaws, Sanders, Tool Cat, and other related machinery
- Basic budgeting and financial management skills
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, and ice during winter months
- Able to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to perform physical tasks such as operating machinery, clearing snow, and performing road maintenance activities
- Ability to work on uneven terrain, including forested areas and rocky surfaces
- Ability to use hand tools (e.g., chainsaws, shovels, and rakes) and operate equipment (e.g., snowplows, excavators, and utility vehicles)
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as equipment cabs, culverts, or manholes
- Exposure to varying temperatures ranging from hot summers to sub-zero winters
- Frequent exposure to the elements, including sun, wind, rain, snow, and icy conditions
- Noise levels may vary depending on the machinery being used
- Exposure to dust, fumes, and vehicle exhaust in construction and maintenance areas
- Exposure to potentially hazardous materials, such as fuel, chemicals, and cleaning agents used for maintenance
- Outdoor work is required in all weather conditions, including snow, ice, heat, and rain
- Work will often involve physical labor and the ability to perform strenuous activities, including lifting, carrying, digging, and working on equipment
- Must be available to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary, especially during snow removal operations
- The position involves supervising staff, vendors, and contractors and ensuring that safety standards and work quality are met
- Occasional exposure to hazardous work environments where personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, goggles, and safety boots must be worn
- The ability to see and interpret road conditions, snow levels, or potential hazards in the community
- Good hearing is required for safe operation of machinery and to respond to equipment warnings or communication from staff
- Ability to distinguish between various mechanical noises and signals to ensure machinery is functioning correctly
- Ability to assess and react to visual and auditory cues for safety and operational purposes, especially during snow removal or emergency response activities
- Salary Range: $33.65 - $38.46 per hour (equivalent to $70,000 - $80,000 annually, DOE) plus benefits
- Performance-based Annual Bonus (approx. 3%)
