Position Summary
The Roads Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Assistant General Manager with the day-to- day snow removal oversight and managing the maintenance of roads, landscapes, and forest areas within the Martis Camp Community Association.

Martis Camp is a private, 2,177-acre community with 671 residential homes, offering a variety of exclusive amenities such as a private club, golf course, spa, fitness center, and more. The community operates in two main seasons, with amenities available year-round and some seasonally.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee vendor scheduling and oversight.
  2. Assist with recruiting and staffing as needed.
  3. Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., NCSD, Truckee Fire).
  4. Collaborate with internal departments to enhance the Martis Camp experience.
  5. Update and track department records and data.
  6. Assist the Assistant General Manager with day-to-day snow removal oversight.
  7. Supervise road maintenance and replacement reserve work.
  8. Support Martis Camp’s Forestry programs as needed.
  9. Assist the Martis Camp Club Grounds Manager as needed.
  10. Manage Best Management Practices (BMPs) to ensure environmental sustainability and compliance with local regulations, including reporting to Placer County.
  11. Collaborate with the Golf Maintenance Department to ensure the quality of landscape and water management efforts.
  12. Assist in maintaining Martis Camp’s Firewise designation.
  13. Coordinate holiday tree lighting and decorations with contractors.
  14. Support the Golf Maintenance Team during special events.
  15. Provide assistance with community and club construction projects (e.g., parking lots, gatehouse expansion).

Experience & Skills

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in landscape/roads/community management.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Professional demeanor with the ability to make independent decisions.
    • Experience in resource management and handling multiple tasks effectively.
    • Equipment operation experience with Excavators, chainsaws, Sanders, Tool Cat, and other related machinery.
    • Basic budgeting and financial management skills.
    • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Physical Requirements (with or without accommodations)

    • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, and ice during winter months.
    • Able to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
    • Must be able to perform physical tasks such as operating machinery, clearing snow, and performing road maintenance activities.
    • Ability to work on uneven terrain, including forested areas and rocky surfaces.
    • Ability to use hand tools (e.g., chainsaws, shovels, and rakes) and operate equipment (e.g., snowplows, excavators, and utility vehicles).
    • Ability to work in confined spaces such as equipment cabs, culverts, or manholes.

Environmental Conditions

    • Exposure to varying temperatures ranging from hot summers to sub-zero winters.
    • Frequent exposure to the elements, including sun, wind, rain, snow, and icy conditions.
    • Noise levels may vary depending on the machinery being used.
    • Exposure to dust, fumes, and vehicle exhaust in construction and maintenance areas.
    • Exposure to potentially hazardous materials, such as fuel, chemicals, and cleaning agents used for maintenance.

Working Conditions

    • Outdoor work is required in all weather conditions, including snow, ice, heat, and rain.
    • Work will often involve physical labor and the ability to perform strenuous activities, including lifting, carrying, digging, and working on equipment.
    • Must be available to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary, especially during snow removal operations.
    • The position involves supervising staff, vendors, and contractors and ensuring that safety standards and work quality are met.
    • Occasional exposure to hazardous work environments where personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, goggles, and safety boots must be worn.
Sensory Requirements
 
    • The ability to see and interpret road conditions, snow levels, or potential hazards in the community.
    • Good hearing is required for safe operation of machinery and to respond to equipment warnings or communication from staff.
    • Ability to distinguish between various mechanical noises and signals to ensure machinery is functioning correctly.
    • Ability to assess and react to visual and auditory cues for safety and operational purposes, especially during snow removal or emergency response activities.

    • Salary Range: $33.65 - $38.46 per hour (equivalent to $70,000 - $80,000 annually, DOE) plus benefits.
    • Performance-based Annual Bonus (approx. 3%).
    • Member Holiday Fund Bonus (amount varies).
    • Reimbursement for professional growth and education.
    • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance (employee only).
    • Fitness Bonus (up to $600, paid in September).
    • Uniform Allowance.
