Center/Classroom Assistant
Marty's Orchid House is a non-profit 501(c)(3) therapeutic and medical day center for preschoolers with sensory processing disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and overlapping health conditions. We are looking for a passionate and compassionate center/classroom assistant to join our team to work directly in the classrooms under paraprofessional supervision, help with center tasks, cleaning, meal assistance and bathroom supervision.

Our program is very therapy-based, with a 3:1 classroom ratio. The Classroom/Center Assistant must have extensive patience with children with special needs, use positive reinforcement to reward positive behaviors, have the ability to ignore negative behaviors, and remain consistent in classroom routines under the direction of the Technician, Therapists, and Teachers. Training will be provided.
- The Center/Classroom Assistant (CA) shall attend to a child’s basic needs under the guidance and supervision of the Orchid House Technician (OHT), Lead Technician, Lead Teacher, Registered Nurse (RN), or administrative staff. The CA shall serve as extra classroom support by nurturing enrolled children, playing alongside them, assisting with meals, and completing center cleaning tasks. As a supportive ancillary role, the CA will usually not be alone with a group of children, but may sometimes be alone for short periods of time. Generally the CA is under direct supervision of an OHT, Lead Tech, Lead Teacher, RN, or administrative staff while in the presence of a child. Center cleaning and any office tasks may be done independently.
Additional Details:
- Child-Care, experience with Autism, and/or mental health experience is preferred but not required
- Attendance is of utmost importance-must have reliable transportation, child-care, and excellent adherence to the schedule. Frequent call-ins will not be compatible with this position.
- 40-hour position Monday - Friday; various day shifts available
