Martz Bus, a leader in motor coach transportation for over a century, is seeking a Human Resources Manager for our Martz Maryland location in Hyattsville, MD. Position Overview
This is a standalone HR role responsible for managing all aspects of human resources at Martz Bus Gold Line. The Human Resources Manager will oversee recruiting and staffing, labor relations, benefits administration, HR compliance, training, and HRIS management. This role reports to the Vice President of Human Resources at our corporate office in Wilkes-Barre, PA, while working closely with the local General Manager and Safety team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead full-cycle recruitment and hiring for all positions, primarily bus/motor coach drivers.
Develop and implement proactive recruiting strategies, including attending local job fairs and networking events.
Build and maintain relationships with local trade schools and colleges to create a talent pipeline.
Manage labor relations with both union and non-union employees, ensuring compliance with contracts and company policies.
Participate in union contract negotiations and handle grievances.
Administer and maintain the HRIS system, including new hires, terminations, and transfers.
Conduct employee investigations and administer appropriate disciplinary actions in line with company policies and collective bargaining agreements.
Plan and facilitate new employee orientation programs.
Supervise and support the HR Assistant.
Oversee benefits administration, including record-keeping, payroll deductions, and invoice processing.
Organize and conduct management training on interviewing, hiring, terminations, performance reviews, and workplace safety.
Act as a key liaison between employees and management, providing support and addressing HR-related inquiries.
Travel may be required occasionally.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources; or a related field (preferred).
At least five (5) years of HR experience, with two (2) years in a leadership role.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Strong recruiting and interviewing skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization.
Strong decision-making abilities, particularly in complex HR matters.
Up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and compliance standards.
