Job Overview
Under the direction of the Planning Manager, processes and expedites purchase orders and performs a variety of duties in support of the purchasing function; prepares reports and maintains accurate records related to supplies, materials and equipment.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that all purchasing activities align with the company's operational needs. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to maintain efficient inventory levels and supplier relationships.
Responsibilities
Prepares and distributes purchase orders; communicates with vendors, production, and warehouse personnel regarding status of placed orders.
Data Entry – updates SAP systems for pricing updates, vendor revisions, etc
Excel – prepares and updates Excel spreadsheets as needed
Verifies ship dates for open purchase orders with vendors and expedites orders as necessary.
Prints weekly reports to track past due purchase orders, and notifies Scheduling for any changes that affect Production
Reviews Inventory Levels for expensed and kanban items.
Performs other related tasks and assumes responsibilities as may be assigned by proper authority. Process purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles.
- Excellent inventory management skills, including experience with inventory control techniques.
- Ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Familiarity with sourcing strategies
