We are seeking a Senior Accountant in our Denver office. We are working a hybrid schedule with 2 days per week in office and 3 remote.
The Senior Accountant has the key responsibility for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries, account reconciliations, analytics and the preparation of internal financial statements in accordance with GAAP. This position will assist in the implementation of our new ERP system and AEC specific module.
Essential Functions
- Support the implementation of new accounting software and adhere to internal controls and policies and procedures
- Preparation of timely month end and year end (fiscal) financial statements to include P &L, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows
- Monthly processing and reconciliation of automated employee expense reports with the assistance of Concur software
- Supporting maintenance of Fixed Assets system for book and tax reporting
- Monthly bank account reconciliations
- Monthly general ledger entries, to include reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
- Current knowledge of GAAP, to include both accrual and cash-based accounting and the conversion between the two methods
- Supporting monthly and quarterly state use tax returns for multiple states
- Preparation of personal property tax and annual filings for multiple states
- Preparation of quarterly key performance indicators
- Processing accounts payable checks, Vendor ACH’s and employee ACH’s
- Coding of monthly office rent invoices and calculation of new lease standards
- Analyzing new accounting standards and implementing according to GAAP
- Assist in preparation of annual & mid-year budgets/projections, company budgets and by office
- Assist with the annual book audit and preparation of income tax returns
- Guide junior accountant and other staff
- Financial dashboards and file maker reporting
- Available to assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable when necessary
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting, or closely related degree
- Minimum of 7 years prior accounting experience including financial accounting
- Experience with Sage MAS100, BizNet, Business Central, MS Dynamics Finance & Operations (F&O, formerly AX) or an integrated ERP system, and the expense report software Concur
- Must have advanced Excel knowledge and experience
- Independent thinking, able to work independently with minimal direction
- Driven, self-motivated and possess a passion for excellence
- Able to prioritize work around multiple deadlines
- Experience with a medium sized company
- Accounting experience within a professional services industry
- Must possess critical thinking skills
- Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization, interaction with top management and the executives
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access office machinery, collaborate with others, etc.
- Consistently operate a computer
- Frequently communicate with team members. Must be able to exchange accurate information
- Must be able to comprehend written reports and communications
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
