Position Overview:
The Employment Services Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive employment support and vocational services to participants of a residential treatment facility. This role focuses on helping participants achieve job readiness, secure employment, and develop sustainable career paths, while integrating these services with the participants' recovery goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Employment Counseling and Support: Provide individualized career counseling to participants, including skills assessment, career exploration, and goal setting. Assist participants with resume and cover letter writing, job applications, and interview preparation. Offer guidance on job search strategies, including identifying job opportunities, networking, and leveraging community resources.
Job Readiness Programs: Develop and conduct job readiness workshops, including topics such as job search techniques, interview skills, and workplace etiquette. Facilitate vocational training sessions or partnerships with local training providers to enhance participants’ employability skills. Create and maintain job readiness materials and resources that are up-to-date and relevant to current job market trends.
Employer Engagement and Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with local employers and businesses to create job opportunities for participants. Coordinate job placements, internships, and apprenticeships in collaboration with employers. Organize job fairs, employer panels, and networking events to connect participants with potential job opportunities.
Program Administration: Track and document participants' progress in employment services, including job placements, job retention, and career advancement. Maintain accurate records and reports on program activities, outcomes, and participant engagement. Ensure compliance with facility policies, funding requirements, and relevant regulations.
Collaboration and Integration: Work closely with other facility staff, including counselors and case managers, to integrate employment services with participants' overall treatment plans. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to provide input on participants' vocational needs and progress. Facilitate communication and coordination between participants and external services or resources.
Resource Management: Assist in the identification and procurement of resources, including job search tools, training materials, and other relevant supplies. Manage program resources effectively and provide recommendations for improvements or enhancements.
Community Outreach: Represent the facility at community events, job fairs, and networking opportunities to promote the employment services program. Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, vocational training programs, and educational institutions.
Requirements:Education: Associate’s degree in human services, Social Work, Business Administration, or a related field. Certifications or training in career counseling or vocational rehabilitation are advantageous.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in employment services, career counseling, or vocational training, with at least 1 year in a substance abuse treatment or similar setting.
Skills: Strong knowledge of employment and vocational training programs, job market trends, and career development strategies. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with participants, employers, and community partners. Proven organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Sensitivity to the needs of individuals in recovery and the ability to address barriers to employment effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and employment-related software/tools.
