What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technology Education Support Specialist position at Maryland Courts?
The position of Technology Education Support Specialist is vital to the Judicial College's Technology Education Unit. The incumbent provides general hardware and software support for Judicial College staff, takes the lead on providing technical support to multiple webinar and instructor led distance learning training deliveries monthly, and maintains and manages technology equipment and inventory for the Judicial College. Serves as the primary lead on setting up and maintaining training computer labs at the Maryland Judicial Complex, mobile training labs, and supporting the use of technology for training classes, meetings, and events. This role will be responsible for conducting field and needs analysis to support offsite training delivery, creating technical drawing diagrams to convey recommended delivery options, requesting, coordinating, and implementing the technology resources needed for the recommended plan, transporting, setting up, and configuring onsite and offsite mobile training labs, establishing and testing secure access to the network using designated training accounts, coordinating software installations on lab equipment in partnership with Judicial Information Systems (JIS), testing and updating the lab?s hardware and software as prescribed by classroom topic requirements, coordinate the monthly changing and testing of passwords for each of the designated training accounts, and troubleshooting and solving technology related issues in conference and training rooms.
The position will also provide highly responsible administrative services in a fast-paced environment that requires strong organizational, technical, and interpersonal skills. Provides support to the managers and Assistant Managers of the Judicial College, Technology Education, as well as project and class support to staff; produce various physical and virtual classroom materials, including log in cards, class notes pages, and supporting materials, prepare correspondence, schedule meetings, and facilitate catering orders; Process requisitions and invoices in the Judiciary GEARS accounting system; Develops course advertisements, then works in collaboration with the college registrar to release the course announcements.
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Experience: Three (3) years of technical and administrative experience in supporting technology use and/or desktop support within an office setting.
Note: Professional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of tech support to remote users attending training sessions using platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom Meeting, and Zoom Webinar
Ability to troubleshoot and solve audio/video connectivity issues and provide technical support related to onsite or remote training, meeting, and conference space for the Maryland Judiciary
Knowledge of video editing techniques using common audio/video file types and commercial software such as Camtasia
Interpersonal skills that include the patience, tact, and diplomacy needed to work effectively with both technical and non-technical end users, project managers, senior officials, judges, and designated points of contact
Aptitude to become proficient with commercial and non-commercial software and hardware used by the Maryland Judiciary
